2-D
DRAWING I
1 semester - 0.5 Credit
The process of drawing from observation is developed in this foundational course. An emphasis on linear perspective, proportion and compositional design. Students will learn to work independently and with others in a studio setting.
DRAWING II
1 semester - 0.5 Credit
Pre-Requisite(s): Drawing I
An intermediate level drawing course with a focus on developing convincing three-dimensional objects through a combination of drawing processes and media. Exploration into conceptual processes and personal voice. Portraiture is explored in historical and contemporary lenses. Students will work independently and with others in a studio setting.
DRAWING III
1 semester - 0.5 Credit
Pre-Requisite(s): Drawing II
The advanced-level, self-directed students will investigate and develop ideas for drawings. Risk taking and exploration with drawing media is encouraged. Refinement of technical and formal skills in preparation for AP Studio Art.
GRAPHIC DESIGN
1 semester – 0.5 Credit
Pre-Requisite: none
Students will work on typography, conceptualizing design elements for logos, advertising, and developing skills for poster making. Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator programs will be utilized in this design class.
ADVANCED GRAPHIC DESIGN
1semester - 0.5 Credit
Pre-Requisite(s): Graphic Design I
Students will reflect the diversity of contemporary graphic design practice, continuing to develop skills utilizing Adobe creative Suite software. The students will explore visual literacy through advertising, expand individual creative voices, and work in collaborative teams to address social problems and business challenges.
COLOR THEORY & PAINTING
1 semester - 0.5 Credit
Pre-Requisite(s): Drawing I
Students will explore the many ways that the element of color influences art. Students will study color theory, make technical color samples, as well as develop conceptually based, fine art paintings. Students will explore what color has to offer as a mean to express emotion in addition to learning the properties of color in scientific term.
DIGITAL MEDIA ARTS
1 Semester – 0.5 Credit
The course introduces students to authentic experiences in creating original artwork using computers and digital media. Students will explore digital photography DSLR cameras and the photo editing software., Adobe Photoshop, to demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop innovative products and processes. Students will learn how to effectively artists and authors of an evolving visual culture. Students will build a portfolio of digital and multi-media of art as a foundation for a career in this expanding field.
3-D
SCULPTURE
1 semester - 0.5 Credit
In sculpture, three-dimensional form is explored and utilized. Sculpture may involve working with clay, wire, plaster, paper-mache, and wood. The material covered in this course will provide a foundation for all 3-D art courses.
ADVANCED SCULPTURE
1 semester - 0.5 Credit
Pre-Requisite(s): Sculpture I
Students will continue to explore 3-dimentional design with traditional and non-traditional materials. Development of
techniques and studies of the masters’ works will be emphasized.
CERAMICS
1 semester - 0.5 Credit
Pre-Requisite(s): Sculpture I
Students will work with clay, glazes, stains and other materials used in the production of ceramic work. Clay hand building techniques will be learned, as well as techniques for work on the potter's wheel.
ADVANCED CERAMICS
1 semester - 0.5 Credit
Pre-Requisite(s): Ceramics I
Students will work in-depth in three-dimensional form using clay. Course content will include work on the potter’s wheel, clay hand building techniques, and exploring new possibilities with glazes.
JEWELRY & METALSMITHING
1 semester - 0.5 Credit
Pre-Requisite(s): Sculpture I
Students will be introduced to the various creative processes involved in making handcrafted jewelry. Techniques to be explored are cold construction, sawing, soldering, casting, hammering, polishing, and stone setting.
ADVANCED JEWELRY & METALSMITHING
1 semester - 0.5 Credit
Pre-Requisite(s): Jewelry I
Students will make original, handcrafted jewelry. They will use advanced jewelry techniques such as chain composition, band box construction, casting, and patina etc. to refine and improve their jewelry skills.

Independent summer course work prior to the start of class. Students will develop and refine advanced skills and techniques in preparation for scoring by the College Board, and for competition and/or college admission. Students will produce a digital portfolio. Grading will be based on the AP College Board Grading Rubrics. Students will explore drawing mediums and variations of mark making, develop a concentration and breadth of work , and explore personal expression in drawing art forms.

Students will explore multiple mediums to develop a concentration and breadth of work while exploringpersonal expression in 3-D design art forms.
AP ART HISTORY
2 Semesters – 1 Credit

A college-level instruction in art history that prepares students to become critical thinkers that goes beyond identifying works of art. Students examine major forms of artistic expression from the past and present and from a variety of cultures. Students develop an understanding why works of art function in context and the effects of art in the student’s lives. Students learn to look at works of art critically, with intelligence and sensitivity, and to articulate what they see or experience.
